Andrew G. Ruble Currently Director of Ceramics at Foothill College, Los Altos Hills, Andy has prior teaching posts at Cabrillo College, Monterey Peninsula College, Southeastern Louisiana University, and has worked as West Coast MFA advisor and mentor for the University of the Arts in Philadelphia. He has taught all of the ceramic related courses: wheel throwing, sculpture, hand-building, clay and glaze calculation, and kiln building. Andy Ruble received his Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Kansas City Art Institute (1995) and his MFA from Louisiana State University (1999). Winner of several California Clay Competition Awards including Best of Show in 2006, and participant in many nationally juried exhibitions, he also maintains his own studio in downtown Santa Cruz. The heart of his work is the hybridization of organic and architectural structure, and he is currently working on his “Structural Relic” series. As objects in nature and manmade objects reflect the same natural laws, we see in his work how the analogous structures of both are important to the survival of the whole. His work simultaneously conveys the beauty of natural arches and the grace of cathedral naves. Formal Education:
